The Green Bay Packers escaped State Farm Stadium with a 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, though the narrow win against a backup quarterback raised more questions than answers.
Green Bay’s defense struggled to contain Jacoby Brissett, who delivered one of his best performances in recent memory despite filling in for Arizona’s injured starter.
Jordan Love completed 19 of 29 passes for 179 yards and one touchdown without turning the ball over, but his inconsistent play continued a puzzling trend for a quarterback otherwise posting solid numbers this season.
The performance did little to silence critics who question whether Love can deliver in crucial moments.
Former head coach Rex Ryan made his doubts clear during Monday’s edition of ESPN’s Get Up, offering a blunt assessment of the Packers quarterback.
“I’ve got no love for Jordan Love, and you know I never have. Yes, he’s got unbelievable ability, and we’ll see some amazing plays from him, but at the end of the day, do I trust Jordan Love? No, I don’t,” Ryan said. “Statistically, it says, ‘Oh no, he doesn’t turn the ball over.’ Oh yes, he does. The biggest moments? He’ll turn the ball over.”

Love’s season statistics paint a different picture than Ryan’s critique suggests.
The 26-year-old has thrown for 1,438 yards with 10 touchdowns against just two interceptions while completing 69.3% of his passes for a 108.1 passer rating.
Those numbers represent an impressive start, but sustained excellence across a full 17-game schedule and into the postseason remains the measuring stick.
The Packers sit at 4-1-1 heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
That game could provide another important data point in determining whether Love can silence his doubters and justify the franchise’s substantial investment.
