Aaron Rodgers delivered a strong performance for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, throwing for 249 yards and four touchdowns in a 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The veteran quarterback looked sharp throughout the contest.
His ability to extend plays and find open receivers kept Pittsburgh competitive against a division rival on a short week.
One interception came on a bizarre misfired punt that found the safety, but Rodgers otherwise executed at a high level.
The loss stung for the Steelers, who nearly secured a victory before Cincinnati connected on a last-second field goal.
Despite the defeat, Rodgers expressed confidence in his team’s trajectory and their position atop the division standings.
“We want to win every game,” Rodgers said. “There needs to be an expectation of winning. But this is a short week, division opponent, anything can happen. Obviously, Joe (Flacco) played really well for them, and (Ja’Marr) Chase and Tee (Higgins) got going for them. This is the NFL. We had a chance to really open up some space, but we’re 4-2, still first in the division.”

The performance also marked a significant milestone for Rodgers, who surpassed Pittsburgh legend Ben Roethlisberger to claim fifth place all-time in passing yards.
He’s likely to finish his career in that spot, still trailing Brett Favre by more than 7,000 yards.
Two costly interceptions allowed Flacco and a depleted Bengals squad to hang on for the win despite Pittsburgh’s offensive output.
Rodgers possesses pocket poise and field awareness that will serve as a blueprint for generations.
At his prime, he ranked among the league’s elite and arguably stands as one of the most dominant players ever to take the field.
The Steelers remain first in the division at 4-2, positioning themselves well despite the Thursday night setback.
