The Green Bay Packers have slowly but steadily gotten better on defense under coordinator Jeff Hafley.
They always had the personnel to be elite, but they rarely got the job done.
The players have stepped up, and the numbers show it.
That’s particularly true of Keisean Nixon, who’s making Packers fans forget all about Jaire Alexander.
“Keisean Nixon ranks second in the league with nine defended passes. That’s the most by a Packers cornerback through the first five games of a season since Jaire Alexander in 2019, according to the dope sheet,” Zach Jacobson wrote on X.

Some lamented the Packers’ decision to part with Alexander, who, when healthy, was one of the best players in the league at his position.
The problem was that he has been rarely healthy recently.
Alexander also reportedly had several power struggles with the organization, and given how much money he was slated to make, it was an easy decision.
Fast forward to today, and Alexander looks like a shell of himself with the Baltimore Ravens this season, while the Packers’ secondary is playing lights out.
After six weeks, the Packers’ defense ranks No. 2 in DVOA.
They’re the only team that hasn’t given up a point in the first quarter, and even though they’ve played five games instead of six, that’s remarkable.
All things considered, Green Bay could have multiple All-Pros on defense by the end of the season.
Unfortunately, that could also lead to Hafley’s departure, as he’s rumored to be one of the leading candidates to land a head coaching position in the next hiring cycle.
