The Green Bay Packers need to play better than they have lately.

They have all the talent they need to be one of the most dominant teams in the NFL, and it feels like they just haven’t been able to tap their full potential.

Notably, a lot of that has to do with their running game.

Though the blocking has been poor this season, especially without offensive linemen Aaron Banks and Zach Tom, running back Josh Jacobs hasn’t performed at his best.

Insider Wendell Ferreira showed that Jacobs is averaging 2.98 yards after contact per attempt, after he averaged 3.45 yards last season.

Jacobs’ elusive rating, per Pro Football Focus, has also gone down significantly, falling from 87.1 last season to 46.3 this season.

The run-blocking hasn’t been any good, we know. And Josh Jacobs hasn’t been individually as good as he was last year.

Coming off a bye week, the Packers have played four games this season, and Jacobs just had his best outing against the Dallas Cowboys’ shaky defense.

Things should be much better when the offensive line gets back to full strength, and Jacobs just needs to rediscover his rhythm to be as good as he’s been in the past.

Granted, there are always concerns with running backs once they reach a certain age.

But the 27-year-old should have plenty left in the tank, and after watching him dominate and break tackles for so long, there’s likely nothing to be worried about.

A big game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 should go a long way to ease any concerns.
