US stocks reverse on the tariff news. S&P down close to 1%

As a tariff fight rages between US and Canada, US stocks have reversed course and are now lower on the day.

  • The S&P index is now down -49 points or -0.86%. The low price took the index down -65.48 points today – close to 1% on the day.
  • The NASDAQ index is currently down -96 points or 0.55%. At its low price the index was down -169 points.
  • The Dow industrial average is down -518 points or -1.24%. At its lows, the index was down -584.58 points

The NASDAQ index is back down, testing the low price from yesterday and the 38.2% retracement of the move up from the October 2023 low (the last time the price was below its 200 day moving average). That retracement level comes in at 17268.18. The low price today reached 17298.94 so far.
