Packers Among NFL’s Most Penalized Teams On Offense

There are a few universal truths about football that are the same at the pee-wee level, all the way to the NFL.

One of the biggest ways that teams at any level can throw away games is by losing the turnover battle, as well as committing too many penalties.

The Green Bay Packers didn’t have any turnovers in the first two weeks of the 2025 season, but they had one in Week 3 against the Cleveland Browns when Jordan Love threw an untimely interception.

They also struggled with penalties this game, especially on the offensive line, which has been a consistent theme for them all season.

As analyst Justis Mosqueda noted on X, the Packers are one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to false starts and offensive holding penalties, committing seven of each through three weeks.

Some of these penalties have come as a result of the offensive line needing some substitutions due to injury, but at the end of the day, there’s no excuse for this many penalties.

Matt LaFleur looked annoyed on the sidelines with his team when they committed these errors, especially during the Browns game, when it felt like the team was making mistakes like they were going out of style.

Errors like this cannot persist for the Packers moving forward, especially when they play top-tier teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens.

Perhaps the early bye in Week 5 will be the medicine they’re looking for, both to get rested and get their best players back on the field, but also to do an in-depth film study to ensure these mistakes happen less moving forward.
