Liverpool have stormed into the lead of the Merseyside derby thanks to a brilliant strike from midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

The Reds have been applying the pressure from the very first minute, going close on several occassions and breaking the deadlock after just 10 minutes.

Talisman Mohammed Salah picked the ball up on the edge of the box and clipped a curling effort in to the Dutchman, who was making a late run into the box.

With the ball spinning away from him and hitting it on the bounce, Gravenberch steered his effort into the far corner, erupting Anfield into a cauldron of noise in the process.

It was no less than Arne Slot’s men deserved, and they have since pushed on in search of a second goal.

And this all comes with £250million worth of talent in Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz on the bench.
