Losing Christian Darrisaw last season was a huge blow to the Minnesota Vikings‘ offense and their Super Bowl aspirations.
They continued to win games, but blindside protection was a big issue in the playoffs.
That has continued to be the case this season in the left tackle’s absence.
That’s why Vikings fans would be thrilled to hear that he might be close to returning from his knee injury.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero recently gave an update on the outlook for Darrisaw returning in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Highest it’s been,” Pelissero said.

The timing couldn’t be any better, as the Vikings will have to deal with Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who led the NFL in sacks last season.
Also, Minnesota will use backup quarterback Carson Wentz as J.J. McCarthy is out with an ankle injury.
Darrisaw was a full participant in practice, and if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks, that should be an indicator of his return.
Unfortunately, the Vikings’ offensive line could still be undermanned, as starting center Ryan Kelly had to leave the Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a concussion.
If he can’t play, Michael Jurgens will be given that task again, even though he had some communication issues and made mistakes with the snap.
As for left tackle, the Vikings only have Justin Skule behind Darrisaw, but he wasn’t able to practice because he also sustained a concussion against the Falcons.
