The Jacksonville Jaguars had a lot of hype and excitement coming into the year.

Among other intriguing players, they used the No. 2 overall pick on Travis Hunter, one of the most exciting prospects to be drafted in recent history.

Hunter, of course, is a two-way player who has already gotten a fair amount of work at wide receiver and defensive back.

He joined Brian Thomas Jr. in what has turned out to be an exciting wide receiver room, and many people believed the combination of these players would turn out well from the jump.

Hunter has looked the part of the No. 2 overall pick thus far on both sides of the ball, but it’s taken a bit for Thomas to get going.

Through two games in his rookie season, Thomas had already logged six catches for 141 yards and a touchdown.

He hasn’t had the same fervor to start his sophomore campaign, having just five total receptions for 60 yards.

His 12 targets were encouraging in Week 2, and if Trevor Lawrence‘s accuracy picks up and he mitigates drops, his numbers should only get better as the season goes on.

Lawrence mentioned as much in a press conference shared via Underdog NFL on X, indicating that his teammate is going to be fine.

“Give BT a little space, he’s going to be just fine. Not worried about him at all,” Lawrence said.

Plenty of players have slow starts to a season, and as Lawrence indicated, it’s not time to panic.

The Jaguars have shown some improvement as an offense, even with Thomas’ numbers being lower than anticipated, so as soon as he picks it up, this unit could take another much-needed step forward.
