The Atlanta Falcons knew things weren’t going to be easy on Sunday Night Football.
Brian Flores’ defense is one of the most physical in the game, and scoring opportunities would be scarce.
With that in mind, they deactivated veteran kicker Younghoe Koo, who’s been struggling since last season.
And judging by the early returns of the Parker Romo experiment, it might not be long before Koo is a free agent.
As shown by B/R Gridiron on X, Romo was stellar in his debut with the Vikings, knocking down five field goals.

He even made one from 54 yards.
All in all, he was responsible for 16 of the Falcons’ 22 points in Week 2.
The Falcons were one missed field goal from potentially being 2-0 this season.
They’re 1-1 instead.
Of course, Koo did a lot for them in the past, and the fans and the organization should always cherish him.
However, this is a business first and foremost, and it won’t stop for anyone.
Kickers are no longer as reliable and consistent as they used to be, and as such, teams need to be careful not to give them a long leash.
The Falcons’ offense has looked decent with Michael Penix Jr. at the helm.
They have a plethora of weapons at their disposal, including one of the best dual-threat running backs in the league.
Still, the placekicker will play an absolutely crucial role for this offense, especially in the early stages while the second-year pro continues to settle in and take ownership of the system.
