The Minnesota Vikings are going through the growing pains that come with a rookie quarterback.
That’s always a part of the equation, and expectations needed to be adjusted accordingly.
However, Richard Sherman isn’t so sure about what he’s seeing right now.
Following their Sunday Night Football loss, the former Super Bowl champion took to social media to express his honest thoughts on J.J. McCarthy:
“Bump. Still not sure he’s the answer,” Sherman posted on X.

This isn’t the first time that Sherman has been critical of McCarthy, who has been up and down so far in his two career starts.
McCarthy and the Vikings’ offense got off to a slow start in Week 1.
Then, Kevin O’Connell took the training wheels off, and he trusted him to lead the way with the two-minute offense.
That wasn’t the case in Week 2.
McCarthy made several mistakes, either overthrowing or underthrowing his pass-catchers, and putting them in a tough spot to make adjustments mid-route.
Again, that should be part of the equation for a quarterback who essentially missed his entire rookie season due to injury and didn’t play much in college.
The physical tools are there, and he’s still young and with plenty of upside.
Still, the Vikings are constructed to win right now, so they might not be as patient as other teams should be with a player like McCarthy.
And after watching the Atlanta Falcons’ pass rush keep him on his toes over and over, all teams will have a blueprint to stop him.
