NFL Coach Gushes About D.K. Metcalf

The Pittsburgh Steelers have high hopes for D.K. Metcalf.

They expect the wide receiver to lead their offense, and though he had only four catches in his first game with his new team, there is potential for much more.

That’s why other NFL coaches gush about the former Seattle Seahawks star.

“[D.K. Metcalf is] a specimen, he’s a freak of an athlete, freak of a physique,” one NFC defensive assistant told Yahoo Sports. “He’s built like an outside linebacker that plays outside receiver and can move inside [as], for lack of a better term, a big dude just running at you. There’s nobody like him in the league, when you think about it.”

Metcalf had 83 receiving yards in his first game with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback, and that partnership could be quite productive this season.

Rodgers looked like his former self in his first game with Pittsburgh, completing more than 73.3 percent of his passes for 244 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Of course, he’s not likely to put up those numbers every week, and facing his former team, the New York Jets, gave him a motivational boost.

However, Rodgers still knows how to make the most of his big-play specialists, even if he doesn’t take as many shots down the field as he used to.

With a rare combination of speed, acceleration and size, Metcalf is among the last players anybody wants to tackle in the open field.
