2025 NFL Draft Gave University Of Georgia An Incredible Stat

The University of Georgia continues to cement its dynasty status under head coach Kirby Smart, particularly when measured by success in the NFL Draft.

The 2025 draft extended Georgia’s impressive streak to eight consecutive years with a first-round selection.

Mykel Williams was selected No. 11 overall by the San Francisco 49ers, Jalon Walker went No. 15 to the Atlanta Falcons, and Malaki Starks rounded out the group at No. 27 to the Baltimore Ravens.

This draft class helped Georgia achieve a remarkable milestone that speaks volumes about the program’s excellence under Smart.

“Georgia has more first-round draft picks than losses in the Kirby Smart era,” SEC Network wrote on X.

Georgia has 20 first-round selections compared to 19 total losses since Smart took over in 2016.

Over the past five years, no program has produced more NFL draft picks than Georgia, which has 55 during that span, according to Dawg Nation.

This unprecedented pipeline to the NFL directly correlates with Georgia’s championship success.

Smart’s prowess in both recruiting elite prospects and developing them into professional-caliber players has established a sustainable model of excellence.

His ability to blend raw talent with proper preparation has created a program that consistently competes at the highest level.

Georgia led all SEC programs in players drafted this year, a fact that makes their 2024 results somewhat perplexing in retrospect.

Finishing with an 11-3 record that included victories against Texas and Tennessee, Georgia suffered unexpected losses to Notre Dame and Ole Miss that revealed vulnerabilities.

The draft results, however, make one point abundantly clear: Georgia’s struggles last season weren’t due to a talent deficiency.
