William Karlsson has been making waves recently on the fantasy hockey side. (Photo by Cooper Neill/Getty Images). Sometimes you need just a moment of peace. All other matters can wait; take this break now–you deserve it. Once your soul feels lighter, resume building your fantasy hockey teams. Need assistance or advice in doing this? Here’s some help from me and Cooper Neill/Getty Images: Perhaps one of these players can pull off an unlikely feat? (Rated as of Nov 8).ForwardsConnor McMichael of WAS (50% Yahoo Rating). When your name is Connor, people tend to expect great things of you. McMichael took some time to catch on in Washington’s top six lineup, but is doing quite well thus far – recording 13 points and 39 shots (including 10 last week against Rangers! ) over 12 games while appearing on Washington’s first power play but has yet to contribute anything tangible there either. Let’s assume McMichael won’t continue at his current rate of scoring; therefore, we should expect somewhere around 50-60 scoring games with top linemates.Nino Niederreiter of WPG (49% on Yahoo!): Congrats are due anyone who’s had patience in waiting out Niederreiter over time, especially considering his inconsistencies when it comes to fantasy scoring expectations compared to fellow teammates like his WPG teammates! When it comes to offense though he often delivered well. Hits have historically been his main draw, though more people are taking notice now as a result of his impressive run over 11 contests which has yielded seven goals, three assists, 30 shots, and 23 hits accumulated so far. Niederreiter has made waves this season for Winnipeg with his 19.4% shooting percentage and consistent 14:45 minutes on an elite lineup, performing admirably while inconsistency persisted across other stats (yahoo: 36%). Karlsson has become an invaluable member of their lineup since their establishment, playing critical roles while offering reliable scoring outputs. An injury initially kept him off the ice for several weeks; since his return, his coverage has steadily grown. Since returning, he’s scored in all five outings (two goals, four assists). Additionally, 12 shots and six blocks have been registered while centering the third even-strength line. Karlsson has also earned two PPAs with his second unit and one SHG since making his debut. Troy Terry of ANH (21% Yahoo scoring average). Terry’s success can be measured in at least 54 point scoring campaigns over three campaigns – meaning his rate of inclusion in this column should not be unexpected given he has done this three consecutive seasons! It’s remarkable to think he keeps making appearances here given he consistently scored 21-30% at C position for Yahoo scoring purposes! Troy Terry (21%) in ANH is another outstanding option who offers incredible versatility to your lineups while qualifying at only C. Since you probably know Terry as one of Anaheim’s go-to players for both goals and assists, his recent 11 game performance includes five goals and five assists as well as 25 shots over 17:50 of play on average with four power play point contributions over that span. Terry also regularly serves on its top power play unit where he’s contributed four PPPs this season alone. Fabian Zetterlund of San Jose made the most of his larger workload to post 44 points (16 while up a man), 204 shots, 120 hits and 71 blocks during his time there (Yahoo: 20%). Back at it again with 10, 30, 34 and 12 points across each category! Zetterlund only managed one PPG since joining Macklin Celebrini back into his lineup, though that could soon change with Macklin Celebrini making another return appearance.Matty Beniers of Seattle wasn’t an easy pick up during his sophomore campaign due to a decrease in scoring. Yahoo Fantasy Football scored him 15%. Beniers was seen as one-dimensional (except when counting faceoff wins ). Still, when on form Beniers is hard to ignore; evidenced by eight points across seven contests as well as 52 FOW — not including his 8 blocks contributions! But just wait till his PowerPlay contributions become significant! Beniers could become unresponsive and be shipped off. Should Beniers falter, you have an escape route in Jason Zucker (Yahoo: 4%) who often outshines expectations by exceeding them considerably. At just 13 games into his Sabres career, Zucker has already recorded three goals and eight assists. While often part of the third trio in five-on-five action, on first man-advantage he’s outdone his counterparts to register four power play goals since Oct. 26 – all thanks to being on first man advantage! Zucker’s totals and prime placement could eventually diminish; you might want to watch his run to see just how far it carries him.Cole Sillinger of CLS (Yahoo: 2%)is only 21 years old yet this marks his fourth full season on the job market. Sillinger seems poised to break out offensively thanks to an increase in both ice time and responsibility, notching eight points while skating 18:10 with his top six team and both special-team units. Jake McCabe from Toronto (Yahoo: 21%)The Leafs may not be scoring goals like they have in past seasons, yet their defensive performance in their first 14 games has improved greatly compared to prior campaigns. McCabe has helped lead this improvement on defense. Offseason acquisitions Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Chris Tanev have proven crucial, while McCabe has become an indispensable cross-category producer with five assists, 17 PIMs, 32 hits and 28 blocks during an average game duration of 21:39 — producing 5 assists, 17 PIMs 32 hits 28 blocks on his 21:39 shift average! So even when his points dry up, his contributions remain valuable enough for more rosters. Alex Vlasic from Chicago (Yahoo: 9%) has continued his strong play from last season in an expanded role, becoming integrally involved across multiple areas. Though not an adept netminder or blocker, he already accumulated seven assists — three on the power play — and an incredible 40 blocked shots while playing more than 23 minutes per night. Vlasic wasn’t expected to score much during his college days and may struggle to sustain such production rate going forward – this shouldn’t matter given his overall production though. Olen Zellweger of ANH offers some potential fantasy options similar to Troy Terry. Yahoo rates him 4%. Zellweger may fall under-the-radar as one of his power play units isn’t exactly exceptional, yet his contributions racked up 37 points across 44 AHL contests last season and earned his inaugural NHL PPG Tuesday along with five shots on goal. Anaheim may easily swap out its lead point-scorer in favor of someone else; Ryan Pulock of NYI (2%) has often been overshadowed as Noah Dobson becomes increasingly more prolific scoring machine. Pulock often goes overlooked. Pulock was known to score 30-plus goals regularly before. These days are long since gone as his current stats include five assists, 19 shots taken, 30 blocks and 18 hits in 22:42 time spent playing left wing for an undermanned Isles left team. His minutes increased significantly in recent outings on that side as Isles left side defensemen have seen reduced minutes than previously planned on left wing ice. As for Goalkeepers:Calvin Pickard of EDM has done his part on Tuesday with a PPA, although that placement may change once Mike Reilly returns.GoaltendersCalvin Pickard (Yahoo: 9%): Unfortunately things haven’t gone exactly according to plan for the Western Conference champions so far with only 2.36 goals being scored per game overall on 6-7-1 record and 2.36 goals per game allowed so far this season. On the flipside, Stuart Skinner has struggled with an average goal-against average and save percentage of 3.28 over nine appearances, though he did shutout Pittsburgh last month. Pickard hasn’t shown significant improvements over six appearances but reeled off three straight victories before losing against Jersey on Monday. Edmonton and Skinner should both benefit from an increase in offensive production, but Pickard could see increased starts as part of an expanding rotation – and could serve as an appealing streamer option. Spencer Knight (FLA: 6%) plays under Nolan Patrick who offers considerable protection. Like Pickard, Knight also faces pressure behind an No. 1. Sergei Bobrovsky stands as the undisputed No.1 so far this season with an outstanding 2.97/.891 ratio that comes alongside his 7-2-1 record. However, 24-year-old Knight has made up for lost time recently by only conceding five goals over his last two-plus outings!
