[BBC]After every Premier League match this season, BBC football pundit Troy Deeney will provide his Team and Manager of the Week selections. Here are this week’s choices – share your opinions by filling out our Comments Form at the bottom of this page! Jordan Pickford (Everton): While I may have criticised Jordan on occasion this season for playing poorly at times, now is the time for me to give him his due and offer my appreciation. I will present him with flowers for all his hard work this season. “Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) played outstandingly well against Newcastle. Not only with his penalty save but with how measured and in control he was throughout. He gained control of his team, keeping a clean sheet to earn them all three points.”[BBC]Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool): Another clean sheet for Liverpool! Not enough is being made of it, I believe. Some of his passes in Crystal Palace’s victory with his outside foot were stunning to watch; one in particular went straight through for Mohamed Salah when it set him free. He just looks more relaxed and assured.Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool): Monster Powerhouse; his confidence never falters or looks worried or concerned; complaints over an apparent penalty were absurd; Van Dijk did his job well to block an opponent who never stood a chance against Van Dijk! The former made sure it never happened! Liverpool must secure him soonest on a long-term deal after yet another captain-like performance from their big centre-half, Michael Keane (Everton). Keane is under much scrutiny at Everton – with fans becoming increasingly disgruntled over time. James Tarkowski was less-than-impressive last week while Keane excelled at covering for him.Diogo Dalot (Manchester United): Although not especially memorable this season, Diogo Dalot has proven himself reliable over many seasons for Manchester United and should receive high marks as an all-around performer. Ryan Gravenberch of Liverpool said Ryan Gravenberch played extremely well at both left-back and right-back, helping his side secure an important point against high-flying Aston Villa, giving Manchester United what was needed a result that made the difference for victory on this matchday.[BBC]Ryan Gravenberch: Ryan was excellent. He’s quickly turning into the holding midfielder we believed Liverpool lacked. Liverpool thought they needed Martin Zubimendi when they tried to sign him this summer, but Gravenberch is already showing his worth and continues to improve game after game.Mateo Kovacic of Manchester City: His two goals against Fulham will likely take all of the attention, yet his versatility also made for an effective victory as he kept play moving and kept possession moving well throughout. People will likely remember him most for scoring but there was much more he contributed beyond goals: his defensive work was outstanding as well. Manchester City’s captain displayed some dark arts that helped their side see out a win against Wolves, including two assists for Mikkel Damsgaard of Brentford in an exciting victory against them. I asked one of my friends attending who the best player was; his answer was Damsgaard – so much for trusting my own opinion on that scoreline! [BBC]Bukayo Saka (Arsenal): He made three assists and scored his goal – it seems a regular weekend occurrence now for Saka. Another fantastic performance against Southampton; just looked a class above. Not only was Arsenal and England both benefiting, but Jarrod Bowen (West Ham) played his best ever game for himself as captain – including providing two assists and scoring twice! A truly huge match! West Ham were under immense pressure during this game so Bowen needed to step up as captain – something which he duly delivered with two goals from assists! He was an obvious threat for Ipswich all game against an Arsenal side that have been consistently strong throughout this campaign – making them look rather ordinary in his performance. Kai Havertz (Arsenal): There is immense pressure placed upon Kai as people question if he will score enough goals this season. He recently equalled Robin van Persie’s record for seven out of seven matches at Emirates Stadium – no mean feat! His confidence is growing steadily and it appears Arsenal have found themselves an exceptional talent on their hands. Marco Silva (Fulham): Although Silva led Fulham to defeat, I was impressed by how effective his tactics were – they chased Manchester City all the way until defeat. Fulham would likely have won had Adama Traore not taken all their opportunities so well; their performance put Manchester City under severe strain.
