Taylor Swift announced her intention to boycott red states that supported Donald Trump following the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections and cancel performances there in “good conscience,” saying she couldn’t perform there anymore. Her rating:
After Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential elections of 2024, there was widespread online chatter suggesting Taylor Swift might boycott red states that had supported his victory by participating in 2024 U.S. elections.
Users started sharing this rumor following former Republican President Donald Trump’s November 2024 reelection victory, though Swift had previously endorsed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid back in September (blue states).
One user on X posted (archived), “Taylor Swift has announced her intention to boycott red states as an act of resistance against Donald Trump’s recent reelection victory.

Users spread similar rumor on Facebook, Threads, TikTok and X.
One Facebook user made reference to Taylor Swift joining an artist boycott of red state concerts by posting, “Taylor swift said she may join [artist pledge not] shows. That could potentially kill revenue.” Another user also stated (archived), they hope she goes broke as some pretended (archived), they were upset over such news commenting “How will we ever survive?”
These and other readers seemed to interpret the rumor as fact, yet no evidence exists for Swift to announce such an event or boycott red states in real-life. Instead, SpaceXMania.com network of parody news started the rumor about Swift joining them and boycotting red states.
SpaceXMania.com posted (archived) supposed news articles pertaining to Elon Musk on their SpaceX Fanclub Facebook page on Nov 9, inciting both humor and parody; their bio also specified, “Please Note SATIRE is NOT REAL!!! Everything found here is fake!”
Image caption read, “Taylor Swift Announces Boycott of Red States; Cannot Perform There,” even though Swift never made such comments or remarks in public.

SpaceXMania-affiliated page The Patriots Network also published an archived post spreading this rumor, receiving over 137,000 reactions and 12,000 shares, featuring text similar to, “Taylor Swift Cuts RED STATES from Tour After Massive Red Wave – SATRICE,” while an image displayed alongside this post depicted an imaginary quote by Swift that read, “This Isn’t My America – I Won’t Perform There.” Swift never publicly made these remarks or statements herself.
This image displayed several indicators that its content was intended as satire, such as a label reading “rated satire” and the text: “Nothing on this page is real. If you believe anything we post then that means you’re an ignorant potato crop.” Additionally, text was shown that stated: ‘This is a FICTIONAL QUOTE.”

An analysis of The Patriots Network page’s edit history indicates a page manager updated the text caption with “SATIRE,” roughly 24 hours following creation after users widely shared its rumor. At that same time, she added a link to an article at SpaceXMania with headline reading ‘Taylor Swift Cancels Red State Shows after MASSIVE Red WAVE; Won’t Perform Here Anymore” that began (archived) like so:
Taylor Swift made an emotional Instagram post announcing her decision to boycott red states as a response to Donald Trump’s recent re-election, explaining she couldn’t “in good conscience bring her music” there because it support divisive and regressive leaders like Donald Trump. Swift’s announcement came mere days after election results were final, leaving millions of her fans reeling, with reactions ranging from outrage and applause from red state fans, while her blue state followers rallied behind it as an act of progressive progressivism.

At the bottom of that article was also displayed a “satire” label and footer text at the website read: “Welcome to SpaceXMania, your go-to source for parody news and entertaining satirical commentary! Please remember nothing here is real – so sit back, relax, and have some fun!”
Snopes has investigated other claims made about Swift in the past, such as her purportedly satirical statement with musician Bruce Springsteen that they would abandon America if Donald Trump wins in 2024, or an unverifiable claim she did not donate money towards Hurricane Helene victims relief efforts.
