The United Sports Tennis Association announced on Wednesday that Stacey Allaster would leave her role of Tournament Director after next year’s Grand Slam event and assume an advisory capacity within their organization. When you reach this age and wonder “What does all this mean”, one wonders where one fits into society at large and the purpose behind certain roles. “Having achieved health, my question now is when is enough enough?” After 38 years in professional tennis, my cup is overflowing with gratitude and accomplishments; not to mention having given back to an industry which has given so much. Stacey Allaster, US Open Tournament DirectorAccording to Allaster in her statement released to USTA Members: “My role with USTA allows for flexibility and time for exploring my other passions – an exciting prospect at this point in her professional tennis career! Allaster expressed her delight over closing out her tenure in professional tennis with them as Allaster announced in her announcement. “I have had the great privilege to direct one of the world’s premier sport and entertainment events; an event at which I collaborated with remarkable athletes, leaders, staff, volunteers and fans.” “I am immensely proud to have led the US Open to reach new attendance records, as well as serving as its inaugural female tournament director–an achievement which I hope will pave the way for more women leaders in sport that I so deeply support.” “Currently, my focus and inspiration lie with staging the most successful USO in 2025 under her guidance and inspiration.
