Derek Wills of Calgary Flames forward Anthony Mantha sustained an upper-body injury on Tuesday evening and did not practice yesterday, according to Evan Rawal of Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar who reported feeling “OK”, traveling to Winnipeg but uncertain as yet whether or not he will play in game tomorrow night.
Forward Jonathan Drouin will not play against the Jets.

I don’t think you can call it that, that was what I said on [Rehabilitation. I believe there have been ups and downs throughout his rehab – particularly now when he feels better and closer to play; when there are push-pull reactions between activities. Sometimes something works great while something else may cause him discomfort… So right now he continues his workouts at the gym every day before returning back onto the ice as soon as he can.

Derek Van Diest: Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid was back on the roster last night after initially expecting to miss two to three weeks due to injury. Instead he made it back just over one week later than initially estimated.
McDavid described it simply, as feeling great: he did not work on media releases himself but nevertheless managed to benefit greatly from them. While things did not start well initially, things quickly improved rapidly – something which made McDavid even happier about life overall. “I can only speak for myself; it feels truly awesome,” McDavid exclaimed.
Gerry Moddejonge reported: Oilers defenseman Troy Stecher left in the third period after blocking a shot, without receiving an update afterward. Harvey Valentine added: Nashville Predators forward Tommy Novak was absent due to an upper body injury last night and will miss tonight’s matchup as a result of their absence from last night.
Callum Fraser of Ottawa Senators reports: Forward Shane Pinto and defenseman Artem Zub could return to action tonight after both have missed time due to injuries – Zub has had concussion-related symptoms for nine games while Pinto missed six due to unknown cause.
Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now reports: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust returned to practice yesterday wearing his regular jersey after suffering an injury on October 26th and being listed as week-to-week. It remains to be determined if Rust can participate against Hurricanes or Capitals but coach Mike Sullivan seems hopeful it might happen soon.
Forward Kevin Hayes did not practice yesterday (due to upper-body injury maintenance). He left Tuesday’s game late in the third.
