Although there has been significant progress over time in terms of access, challenges still persist with regard to accessibility for some groups within society – an approach often called upon when trying to gain entry to specific facilities and organizations. The BBC’s File on 4 attempted to contact salon owners Daria and Monika Wisniewska about Sarah Guy’s complaints against Luxury Medical Aesthetics Academy regarding this, but neither they or Sarah Guy responded and blocked any messages sent back. Sarah Guy from South Wales paid PS1,500 after becoming intrigued with their before and after Instagram photos for “one day fat reduction masterclass”, being sold the promise that Ms Guy (34), would learn new methods of Lipolysis training. Lipolysis refers to injecting chemicals that break up fat cells into smaller pieces so it can be naturally removed by lymphatic system and liver. Ms Guy reported blood splatter when she arrived, noting it on both walls as well as gauze swabs lying around that still bore blood from previous guests. While in training she was advised she could record videos. After being disturbed by what she witnessed, she shared these videos with the BBC. One of Daria Wisniewska’s owners can be seen injecting an antiseptic solution directly into a female model’s chin during one of these procedures. Ms Wisniewska then utilized a scalpel to cut a small hole before inserting an extension cannula with suction attachment into her body cavity and began sucking out fat using an electric suction machine on the floor. Ms Guy witnessed this same method being applied on another model’s chin and on another woman’s stomach. Consultation plastic surgeon Dalvi Humzah of the Joint Council for Cosmetic Practitioners (JCCP) stated that basic hygiene protocols weren’t being followed at this salon – increasing risk of infection while endangering human lives. “This place is an open invitation to disaster,” Save Face lamented, noting one woman ended up hospitalised after their internal organ was hit during treatment. Sarah Guy managed to pass Luxury Medical Aesthetics training course despite refusing to practice on one of their models and was later awarded with an official certification by them. Ms Guy expressed to the company her concerns that its procedure for teaching safe childbirth was unsafe and was ignored, leading her to feel blocked from reaching them on Instagram and blocking herself out entirely. They declined BBC request and have failed to reply since. Additional reporting by Matt Pintus.
