Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images The San Diego Padres have emerged as one of baseball’s hottest teams this postseason – winning 13 of 17 contests since their playoff berth was earned. They entered this NLDS as one of baseball’s fiercest rivals despite coming into it without winning an official playoff game since 2005. Today’s Los Angeles Dodgers don’t need much help winning games; yet in the bottom of the second inning on Tuesday night they gave themselves plenty of assistance for victory against San Diego Padres. Their rival team scored six runs thanks to an error by Freddie Freeman while failing to complete their double play attempt with any one baserunner out safely. Fernando Tatis Jr.’s two-run blast capped the frame for the Padres, providing enough offense for them to pull out a 6-5 win against Teoscar Hernandez of Los Angeles Dodgers and save face by blasting a grand slam – however it wasn’t enough – but by then all was done and dusted. Four San Diego relievers combined to seal off the game over the final four innings, giving up just one hit while striking out six batters to end an intense one-run classic for San Diego. Following the game, fans and pundits of both teams pointed towards errors by Los Angeles during the second inning that opened up opportunities for San Diego to score: Sky Herrera @skyyherrera_ The early errors are coming back to haunt us in big way @caslancathryn Cathy @TheBestSportMomErrors always come back at us!! Smarten up Dodgers!! SBR @SBR_betsTatis owns the Dodgers with pride! This is what happens when innings extend with errors: Ralph D. Russo of @ralphDrussoATH wrote the Dodgers had numerous clown show innings during this postseason; Tony Jones @Tjonesonthenba commented they are fielding like my 10 year old biddy league team; Zachary D Rymer tweeted out about how their energy in 2013 when Johnny Cueto made that swing, Jason Catania @JayCat11 commented they may fall victim to Padre’s defense; California Street Bikerstv @frontrowjpegs made clear why the Dodgers wouldn’t beat them; that was why the Dodgers couldn’t beat Padres…. Errors galore with Bryan the Baddie @superduperBRYAN being held responsible, though people like to blame Dave Roberts he just needs to step it up, this defense being why Walker gets down-putted so easily here… No room for errors…Celeste @Chelsea_Nykole lost our lead just then “Ouch!” what an epic series it has been! Ashley Marie @AshaBee09 said it best: “Y’all can’t keep making these errors!” The Dodgers now trail 2-1 against the Padres with Wednesday set as an elimination match at Petco Park due to errors and mental mistakes from both teams that allowed for long innings against an equally formidable lineup like that which the Padres boast, the difference on Tuesday being errors that allowed huge innings against them as it allowed their batters more chances to hit homers with errors leading them further ahead
