Jayson Tatum helped Boston win their record-setting 18th NBA title and now enjoys playing under their franchise banner with them enjoying his record $314 Million supermax contract extension, but don’t think for one second that this superstar player is bragging or finding ways to blow all their cash! He remains humble despite it all and won’t flaunt or spend it.
Reigning champion Floyd Mayweather Jr has discussed with media that his agreement with Brandy Cole, his financial manager mother, that only endorsement earnings will be spent and not his own salary would apply when budgeting finances.
He currently boasts sponsors like Google, Subway, Nike and Gatorade; according to Forbes estimates that they expect him to bring in over $13 Million this year from endorsement deals alone.

NBA Champion Jayson Tatum (@jaytatum0) explained why he wasn’t able to use all of his $314M contract. To read more on that topic, follow Graham Bensinger on twitter (@GrahamBensinger).

“Her and my accountant agreed,” noted the All-Star of his deal struck with his mom prior to being selected by Massachusetts in 2017. They hadn’t anticipated making as much off the court than anticipated.
Tatum was traumatized by his early financial insecurities and therefore decided to respect his mother’s decision of saving as much as possible.
“For most of my life I lacked money,” Jayson lamented of his difficult upbringing. “I didn’t have an investment account or checking account – nor even access to credit – which taught him first-hand what it feels like not to have enough.
Cole herself has her own reasons for opting for such an alternative lifestyle. “We’re still living paycheck-to-paycheck,” her mother revealed during the interview, while reiterating: “He knows exactly where he doesn’t want to return.”
Cole serves as his conduit when making major purchases, since she understands his liking of luxury goods – particularly watches – and she cannot refuse them because “technically I cannot say no”.
Tatum does still treat himself to some luxurious purchases and takes full advantage of life. His mother agrees to allow this, ensuring Tatum enjoys life to its fullest extent.
As a mother and protector, Cole finds it instinctual and hard not to react when seeing how her son spends his money. “When he told me the price, I asked what this watch did; but his response was simply, ‘But it isn’t Celtic money!’ So this joke became his. That was his running gag.”
Jayson’s mother still attempts to control him, yet the NBA player finds ways of enjoying life despite restrictions – “sometimes I take trips with my friends to LA, Vegas or Miami and she will call in the morning asking who this Mr. Jones was who gave them $12,000?” – however this doesn’t stop Jayson. “[Sometimes I take trips],” said Jayson “we go out there but when we return she calls and asks who Mr. Jones was and why were giving them all of this money”.]”
Tatum doesn’t see his trips abroad as extravagant luxuries; rather he credits them to having been planned “with moderation in mind”. Part of Tatum’s wealth lies in recalling how little there used to be when starting off his life in Boston.
