“She was self-conscious about how she appeared. She told the hearing there was no chance she’d change her mind about having BBL done, though landscaper Mr Jones did not wish for the trip or surgery to go forward. Mr Pollard noted: ‘Informed consent in this matter, pre and postoperative care were inadequate – none provided at any stage.” All this meant Demi’s care fell well below what should have been expected and contributed directly to her death. “Family HandoutDemi Agoglia collapsed at a villa she was staying at in Instabul the day after having surgery; shortly thereafter she told her mum, ‘I finally have what I always desired.” However, soon afterwards her partner sent an SMS text alert advising that Ms Agoglia was no longer present and gone.” Mr Jones testified at an inquest hearing that following her operation Ms Agoglia appeared “very cold”, shaking violently and with bloodshot eyes. Staff from Comfort Zone (later determined not to be qualified nurses) were summoned to her villa when she complained of tight chest. Although they took blood pressure readings at first, later it transpired they did not inspect or examine any areas surrounding the operation or her heart rate and pulse, and did not do further checks either until Ms Agoglia collapsed at her villa the following day before being transferred back to hospital where she later passed away.” Chloe said the family were suffering through “the greatest possible heartbreak”, as Demi was beautiful, outgoing and confident girl that did not require surgery at all. Her statement read by family friend Ellie Foulkes outside court was heart-rending to read out: “She left due to feeling inadequate within herself,” the family stated in their tribute for Demi. She went on to note how Demi had left behind not just family but two beautiful little boys as well – forever and always in our hearts Demi.” Finally she added “sleep tight”. “She advised people conducting cosmetic surgery research before traveling abroad for surgery in Turkey. However, Comfort Zone insisted Ms Agoglia had been informed “thoroughly of all risks involved with cosmetic surgery”, and any claims their staff were unqualified were categorically untrue”.The coroner promised Ms Agoglia’s family he would write directly to Health Secretary Wes Streeting with regards to Ms Agoglia. “I do feel something must be done to end what are clearly barbaric medical practices conducted to such low standards that would never be tolerated in Britain,” he stated. “Our thoughts are with Demi’s family and friends during this traumatic time,” stated a Department of Health and Social Care representative. “It is indefensible that lives are being put at risk due to inadequately trained operators in cosmetic procedures. “Patient safety must always come first; any patient considering cosmetic procedures should carefully consider any potential health impacts and find an experienced, certified practitioner before undertaking them,” according to additional reporting by Press Association.
