Scientists in China might have recognized a newfound species of vampire squid — solely the second recognized species on the earth.

Vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis infernalis) attain lengths of about 1 foot (0.3 meters). Regardless of their menacing look and title, they’re deep-sea scavengers and are unlikely to hurt something other than small invertebrates and actually normally gravitate towards feces and useless animals.
