The Antikythera mechanism — an historical shoebox-sized machine that was used to trace the motions of the solar, moon and planets — adopted the Greek lunar calendar, not the photo voltaic one utilized by the Egyptians, as was beforehand thought, new analysis reveals. 

The Antikythera mechanism, discovered by sponge divers off the Greek island of Antikythera in 1901, was created round 2,200 years in the past. The machine, which comprises bronze gears, has typically been referred to as the world’s oldest laptop.
