Once again, let me offer my congratulations to those involved – you should all feel proud. Harry How/Getty ImagesNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman indicated on Wednesday that he will make every attempt possible to retain star outfielder Juan Soto in free agency, according to reports by both ESPN and Associated Press (h/t ESPN). Soto acknowledged other options may exist during free agency; however, Cashman intends to do all he can do keep Soto under pinstripes:”We certainly have an interest in keeping Juan with us so we’ll put forth our best effort there,” according to Soto and ESPN (h/t ESPN). That will either result in us keeping him on our roster by signing him back, or being forced into seeking alternative players who could contribute positively in different ways to our roster. Either way, there will likely be numerous options out there which we could potentially consider in that situation. Today is not that day for us; but every winter brings with it difficult choices that require tough decisions to be made. “Last offseason, the Yankees acquired Soto in a massive trade with San Diego Padres. He went on to have perhaps his finest year ever for New York while leading them all the way to an appearance in the World Series. Soto slashed an amazing.2888/.419/.569 line while hitting 41 homers, collecting 109 RBI and scoring 128 runs.”
