How Can We Accurately Record Hurricane Milton From Space?

Claim: mes An authentic video uploaded online in early October 2024 showed time-lapse footage of Hurricane Milton seen from space. Ratings: [1.8/5].
Context
NASA Astronaut Matthew Dominick uploaded this video of himself from aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft that currently docks with the International Space Station.
Reddit user @VastCoconut2609 uploaded a time-lapse video purported to demonstrate Hurricane Milton from space (archived). Their post received over 69,000 upvotes and 1,800 comments as of this writing, but was soon taken down after experiencing significant traffic surge.

At the time of publishing, Hurricane Milton had already started its devastating assault upon Florida and further destruction was expected overnight. Evacuation orders had already been put into effect across Florida in anticipation of this storm that came just two weeks after Helene hit so heavily across multiple states including its home territory of Florida.
Reverse image search revealed the footage provided in Reddit post was, indeed, genuine.
Matthew Dominick, an astronaut currently stationed at the International Space Station (ISS) who shared it on YouTube Oct 8 (archived), posted it and had over 9 Million Views and 84,000 Likes as of this writing (archived).

Dominick posted another update about Hurricane Milton on Oct. 9, noting it appeared “larger yet less symmetric than” the day prior (archived).
