Toronto Maple Leafs to Send Easton Cowan to London Knights; Will It Benefit His Development?

There’s been some consternation about whether there will be enough funding available for an expansion project of that magnitude – and so far no decision has been taken on that front either! So for those of us still eager to experience all that the world of business offers us in 2019, here is one more chance: the annual General Conference and Exhibition taking place from 3rd-6th May at the Manchester Central… – starting on Thursday 3rd may. After opening their seasons early overseas in Europe, Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils kicked off their seasons, while other NHL clubs continue finalizing rosters and selecting starting lines – and some top OHL talent has either returned home or earned spots on opening night lineups (notably Toronto Maple Leafs 2023 first rounder Easton Cowan who made quite the impression by nearly making opening night roster out of training camp!). Toronto Maple Leafs 2023 first rounder Easton Cowan even surprised everyone when nearly making opening night roster out of training camp last season out of training camp! Now back home in London, Cowan had an OHL season that will always remain vivid in his mind. On Monday afternoon when Toronto finalized their opening night roster for 2023-24, Cowan was loaned back to London Knights on loan; view original article to view embedded media. He played consistently well all season for London Knights this season recording an astounding 42 game point streak! He finished with 34 goals and 96 points over 54 regular season games to claim the Red Tilson Trophy as most outstanding player for his league. Not content to stop there though, he led playoff scoring with 34 points over 18 matches unstoppably dominating competition and unforgiving opponents alike. Cowan helped London win the Ontario Hockey League Championship and received the OHL Playoffs MVP Award. Additionally, Winnipeg Jets prospect Sam Bennett notched six-points during Niagara’s big victory against Brampton; 2025 NHL Draft Top Prospect Jack Ivankovic Engages In Rare Goalie Fight Finally, Cowan led his London teammates all the way to Memorial Cup’s final but unfortunately were defeated late by Saginaw Spirit 3-2 in overtime regulation play. Easton once again shined at the tournament, finishing first in points with eight in four games to claim first place overall and win his fourth Memorial Cup appearance last season. So what should the London Knights expect of him as they return to junior hockey for what could be their final OHL season? First and foremost, London Knights should aim for back-to-back championships this season and strive to contend for them again this time around. It will be challenging for him to match all the accolades from last season in the OHL, but no reason he shouldn’t lead them in scoring even if this means missing time playing for Canada at the 2025 World Juniors where he should have participated instead of returning back down into junior hockey in Toronto – his skillset would simply make too much impact at this level of hockey! Cowan will likely continue his dominating performances every night, which should boost his confidence but won’t provide many obstacles or challenges during this season. At 43 games long and in 43 straight games with 43 points. While that would make headlines this season, I think the Maple Leafs would rather see him spend his season playing for Marlies of AHL and gain experience against bigger and stronger men. On the flipside, Cowan’s return to junior certainly makes waves in Ontario Hockey League circles; after an average training camp where he failed to stand out like last season and Toronto brought in Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz for PTOs made it harder for Easton Cowan to break through into Toronto’s top 12. Reverting back into junior may not be ideal but there wasn’t much else Toronto or Easton could do at this stage of his development. Replicating his success from last season may prove challenging; thus it would be wise for fans to set realistic expectations of him this time around.
