Hockey fans will appreciate both shows now streaming. Although each is fascinating in their own right, these films provide very distinct insights into different parts of hockey industry. View original article for embedded media. Additionally, The Rebuild: Inside Montreal Canadiens dives deep into one franchise within it – not simply what happens on the ice but all aspects related. There are segments about individual players as well as sections featuring hockey operations, marketing and communications departments. Feel like taking a peek everywhere? The Amazon opus provides us with an insider view into what’s going on on the ice while giving an insight into their players off of it and how they take care of themselves; just don’t expect too much Canadiens content! Filmed during the playoffs after Montreal finished playing, you will gain inside knowledge on their rival teams. Example: you might recall an altercation on the Toronto Maple Leafs bench between Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander during which words such as these were exchanged: [Nylander: Just shoot it! Stop crying!”] Now it can all be decoded easily: As is evident by this quote, profanities have been edited out but will still appear during this conversation; you get to hear both versions if your show. The Swede describes how frustrating benching can be but how no-one leaves disappointed after each game since everyone wants victory. Furthermore, it’s fascinating to observe who are friends amongst themselves. Nylander and Boston Bruins’ David Pastrnak share an unlikely bond as childhood teammates; adding another dimension of conflict between Toronto and Boston. In Episode Two we get a look into Jack Eichel’s career and what caused his departure from Buffalo due to injury issues. Vegas Golden Knights star forward Reilly Smith outlined just how passionately Vegas embraces hockey as well as how his organization’s focus lies on victory rather than loyalty or attachment to any particular location; if players cannot deliver, they are gone from their roster. Eichel (like so many players) keeps his own chef at home and joins teammates before games to enjoy his tasty meals together. In The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens Episode 6, we also saw Nashville Predators General Manager Barry Trotz effectively grounding his players by prohibiting any field trip trips for them to attend. Players had purchased tickets to attend an U2 concert at the Sphere in Vegas; however, due to underperformance by some members, their boss made them forfeit them. As their determination drove them forward, this proved the catalyst to begin an unprecedented winning streak. Of course, as with any show about hockey, injury was also discussed; viewers got an insight into how an injured ankle may be treated using acupuncture as part of physiotherapy treatments received. As these articles explore some serious injuries sustained by players, you might find yourself questioning (not for the first time) just how these athletes continue their careers despite this hardship. The third installment focuses on Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman as its central subject matter. As we watch him use visualization in his gameday routine, play guitar and sing as hobbies, and endure his arbitration hearing, we gain insight into why last year’s arbitration hearing impacted him greatly: It wasn’t an enjoyable process I wanted to go through but understand that business needs require them; once in that room you don’t speak. […] Arbitrators’ jobs are to assist management while criticizing players; hearing that you do not deserve what is due you is heartbreaking and mustn’t happen again can be heard with pain. Your words won’t escape your memory; I wrote down what had been said and just recently reviewed them with some checkmarks next to certain sentences that needed work in playoffs: P.K. Subban actually introduced that segment and discussed his arbitration hearing as being the moment when he first realized hockey is business. Recall, back in 2014, when this blueliner filed for arbitration hearing he heard why “he wasn’t worthy,” to use Swayman’s words. He reached a deal with Montreal prior to receiving the arbitrator’s ruling and recognized owner Geoff Molson’s influence during negotiations as having had an enormous effect. Related Article: Inside Montreal Canadiens Episode 5 This series follows Florida Panthers quest for Stanley Cup championship with particular attention given to Matthew Tkachuk and interactions he shares with family – his brother Brady and father Keith being highlighted throughout. While I can find Cats alternate captain Chris Nolen irritating at times, it was quite moving to see his dad sob while watching his eldest son raise hockey’s ultimate prize. Additionally, you’ll see what McDavid and Co looked like after losing in the final and not having to speculate why he didn’t come out later to collect the Conn Smythe. As is often stated, an image speaks a thousand words. While not specifically targeting Montreal Canadiens fans, I am certain any hockey fan will enjoy binging through Amazon’s six-part series on hockey. After watching it over two nights, and I can attest that it did nothing for my insomnia, Karine Hains can be followed on Twitter at @KarineHainsBluesky @karinehains.bsky.socialand Threads@KarineHainsTs Bookmark The Hockey News Canadiens’ page for all news regarding Montreal Canadiens hockey team activities!
