Once again it’s the people behind it all who need reminding, who have done nothing other than write for years on end to keep themselves going strong despite any odds against it all. So please accept my sincerest congratulations for another job well-done Comedian Miranda Hart recently disclosed her battle against chronic fatigue following being diagnosed with Lyme disease. In her autobiography I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, Hart gives an honest account of the last decade–from its challenges caused by health to marriage at 51–which will provide rare insight into Hart’s personal life and reveal she married after all these years! Miranda, best known as star of BBC show Miranda told BBC it had been tough years but that she was delighted at finally marrying and is excited for more silliness! “I feel very excited and relieved to be back on television!” she exclaimed on The One Show. “After having spent much of your time bedridden with fatigue-based chronic illness that takes so long to be diagnosed – which many will understand – life becomes very precious to you and can feel very isolated at times.” Hart explained her fatigue-driven condition to BBC Radio 4’s Today show; otherwise people might never truly comprehend its magnitude. Hart described herself as being bed-bound for days at a time as well as housebound during those difficult moments of her life. “Many times when looking at a glass of water I would find myself thinking ‘I don’t know how to pick this up.’ Our goal as humans should always be for acceptance and love – especially within medical situations – and not being heard, accepted and seen is devastating. “She said the primary motivation for writing the book was to share what helped with her recovery, she noted. “I knew I needed to investigate all the wellness expertise and dialogue out there; however, being bedridden at home alone and unknowledgeable of any specific recommendations from doctors made the task more daunting than expected. Instead, I thought what are universal truths? “So I began searching the Web. “[]”What can you find there?”]” So I conducted years of research whenever it felt possible, culminating in my book with 10 keys I call treasures to living well despite suffering. “They really helped, as now my life is more joyful, meaningful, and fulfilling than ever before!” “Now, I feel as if I truly understand myself – something which was unknown before.” When she received a diagnosis for her disorder, it allowed her to pinpoint its origin to when she was just 14 years old. “When I was 14 or 15, my symptoms first manifested themselves after contracting a tick-borne illness.” That momentous event served as relief; being misunderstood and judged is the hardest aspect of these types of conditions, according to her. “Hart, who began her acting career performing at Edinburgh Fringe festivals during the early 2000s, remains best-known for playing Miranda from her self-titled sitcom which ran between 2009 and 2015. However, offscreen Hart did have some happiness: at 51 she announced she married someone she met during pandemic outbreak. “Marriage at midlife brings with it so much happiness and fun!” She exclaimed: “He’s my best friend – together we share amazing adventures…” That I could meet someone – it may not be an exciting romance movie-type plot arc but there is always hope that things could turn around – is something worth remembering, no matter the situation you find yourself in. “After taking time out to rest and recuperate with her new spouse by her side, Hart finally felt she could take on new projects again. “I miss being on set where laughter reigned supreme. Once she received word from fans about the show’s outcome, Hart found their reactions “really moving”. Posting a video message on X, Hart said she found their joy of her announcement to be very heartwarming, thanking all her viewers and fans alike for all their support in telling her news and publishing a book together – to which only his hand could be seen at any one time in the clip – before high fiving her husband (only his hand can be seen) which was her way of sharing “exclusive material”. Her book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You will be available by 10 October 2018.
