Kawhi Leonard has endured injuries throughout his NBA career, yet now anticipates returning fully healed and contributing to Los Angeles Clippers title hopes from day one of their season debut. However, before making any hasty decisions regarding return or recovery plans – Leonard prefers taking things slowly before jumping the gun prematurely.
Los Angeles veteran forward Nick Young wants his knee pain not to become an issue later during this campaign; yet has admitted in interviews with press that his right knee feels “good”. To accomplish that, most of training camp in Hawaii was dedicated to strengthening it after having it surgically repaired earlier in 2019.
“I feel great,” Kawhi told reporters after halftime of the Clippers preseason loss against the Warriors: “just taking my time, getting stronger and ready.

Los Angeles Clippers superstar forward Kawhi Leonard says his knee feels fine after participating in their inaugural preseason matchup on Tuesday, October 6, 2024. For more, follow Newsweek (@Newsweek).

Once the game was over, he explained: “… we are taking things slowly day-by-day to try and get me back out on the floor as quickly as possible… Once those conversations arrive about [best approaches for back-to-backs], then we will explore their ideas,”
Last season, 33-year-old Eric Young participated in 68 regular season matches – his most since 2007. Unfortunately he missed his team’s final eight matches of regular and playoff action; thus limiting how often he got on the court this past year. Going forward though, two-time Finals MVP Eric wants to play as many matches possible this coming year.
“This is what I work toward,” he explained this weekend, “not simply playing as many games as possible and hoping they all go my way – although playing every possible game may become my obligation – but ultimately winning is my aim and we shall see where that takes us.”
Even so, Leonard later disclosed how his attempts at preventing inflammation from returning aren’t dependent upon how they feel; rather it involves listening to doctors and understanding what steps I need to take in order to minimize my actions – something Kawhi acknowledged is likely what put her where she currently sits. “[My approach is] more focused around listening and following their advice if needed” he concluded.
DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors gives his analysis of why Kawhi Leonard would still have won this year even without being part of their club’s lineup.
DeMar DeRozan believes Toronto didn’t require Kawhi Leonard from Clippers star team Los Angeles Clippers in order to claim its first ever NBA crown during 2018-19 season. DeRozan used to wear Toronto jersey and believes his former team didn’t rely on Kawhi for victory at Larry O’Brien Trophy competition.
What makes this trade even more surprising is that, at its heart, Leonard brought DeRozan with him from Canada to Texas via trade – something which many attribute as one of the major driving factors for Toronto’s surprise championship victory five years prior.
Last Thursday on First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Kevin Durant as hosts, veteran guard Michael Beasley spoke candidly about this subject matter: he never meant to discredit those players but they definitely won and deserve their success, something I finally got around to acknowledging for themselves and myself as we could only beat one person: LeBron James.”
