Kansas City Chiefs fan Kevin Fang will serve 17-plus years for his involvement in an array of bank robberies across multiple states. Xaviar Michael Babudar, 30, who is best known as ChiefsAholic online personality was sentenced in Kansas City federal court Thursday morning for 17 1/2 years of incarceration without the possibility of parole according to court documents. Babudar will serve three years of supervised release following his sentencing, per the sentencing documents and pay over $500,000 in restitution to the court. According to a statement issued by the U.S. Attorney for Missouri’s Western District, all property connected with his money-laundering activity – such as an autographed painting depicting Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes – must also be forfeited, according to this ruling. Babudar was charged in 11 robberies or attempted robberies across seven states during which he stole nearly $850k, according to prosecutors. He pleaded guilty in February to one count each of money laundering and transporting stolen property across state lines, and one count each of bank robbery and bank robbery in separate Oklahoma cases, according to prosecutors. He received 17 1/2 years for bank and credit union robberies committed in Oklahoma during 2022; two more while on the run were reported, according to prosecutors. He admitted his participation in 11 such incidents that year alone. U.S. Attorney Teresa Moore in her statement noted, that while appearing as an influential social media celebrity online, the defendant engaged in an organized criminal spree consisting of multiple armed and attempted robberies across seven states – which provided funds for expensive tickets and travel across the nation to attend Kansas City Chiefs games while building up an extensive fan base online. “His true nature was laid bare when he terrorized bank and credit union employees at gunpoint,” Moore explained. He attempted to run from justice but law enforcement caught up with him; now, he will spend an extended portion of his life behind bars.” Matthew Merryman, Babudar’s attorney, reported Thursday they achieved “a fair and just outcome in court. Merryman stated their unwavering commitment to reduce and mitigate charges faced by Babudar as well as potentially decades in imprisonment,” in their sentence imposed against Babudar. “Xaviar wishes to extend his deepest thanks and assure all his fans and followers that this is not the final chapter,” Merryman stated. “He promises he’ll ‘howl’ again!! “Babudar was first arrested in Oklahoma in connection with an attempted bank robbery at Tulsa Teachers Federal Credit Union on December 20, 2022. He was released from jail in February 2023 and removed his ankle monitor the following month, becoming a fugitive until authorities caught up with him again in July when it was linked with other bank robberies, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Missouri’s Western District. He was then accused of conducting bank and credit union robberies across Midwest before laundering earnings at Kansas City-area casinos before depositing proceeds into various bank accounts, according to this office. In April, Babudar was also ordered to pay $10.8 million in damages to a bank teller who accused him of assault with a weapon during December 2022 robbery in Oklahoma. Furthermore, Judge Lawrence suggested he serve time at FCI Greenville (Foster Correction Institution for Greenville Illinois) medium security prison located near Greenville in Illinois.
