There Is Still a "Minuscule Chance" That Brandon Ingram Will Join Warriors

Brandon Ingram remains one of the great unanswered questions of this offseason market, having been heavily linked with Golden State since early summer. One thing is for certain; Ingram wants certainty in his career whether that means New Orleans or elsewhere since he will reach free agency next season.
Reports indicate that his most likely landing spot may be San Francisco. Monte Poole from NBC Sports Bay Area has made clear his belief in this regard multiple times by saying any chance of his returning to Golden State are very slim indeed.
Contextually, his remarks allude to the Warriors’ November 2020 trade for former Oklahoma City Thunder wing Kelly Oubre Jr. “Since Kevin Durant left, this Oubre deal represents one of only few individual moves made under the theory that it alone could keep the Warriors among contenders,” writes James Keane for SI.com.

Brandon Ingram did not attend a weeklong voluntary minicamp held by Pelicans players in California last week, according to Will Guillory (@WillGuillory). All other roster players including new signee Daniel Theis were included at this minicamp except Ingram and former No. 15 pick Alvin Atkins were absent from it.

“Ever since Chris Paul joined, every move made has been to augment rather than expand their roster,” stated a reporter, before discussing whether Ingram might fill this vacancy.
Poole commented, “[This decision is largely informed by] Oubre’s experience: no longer are the Warriors willing to risk jeopardizing their bottom line or parting ways with draft picks in exchange for individuals that do not receive widespread consensus support,” Poole explained.
“Sources have reported that Brandon Ingram does not meet that level; therefore any chance he would come play for Golden State is slim to none,” according to him.
He should garner great interest among numerous teams after averaging 20.8 points with 49.2% shooting accuracy per contest while also dishing out 5.7 assists and pulling in 5.1 rebounds per matchup over his eight NBA campaigns to date.
Reports also confirm that the athlete has been seeking an extension worth over $200 Million across four seasons in New Orleans.
Marc Stein was among the first to call attention to Anthony Davis and the Pelicans’ desire for him. Stein revealed back in July how Davis is looking for an extension worth $208 million over four years; yet no deal has yet been inked, even with team executives declaring their desire for him return.
“We have made it very clear, we prefer for Brandon to remain part of our organization,” stated Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin on Sirius XM radio show. “And Brandon has also expressed that preference.”
However, New Orleans executive explained that many things could unfold and that for now they were just “playing it out”. Let us not forget that Dejounte Murray and several key players have already been acquired for next season’s roster.
