T-2 Micah Nori of Minnesota scored 17 percent T-3 Sean Sweeney of Dallas earned 10 percent with Chris Quinn coming in fourth (Miami is last on that list with 7). T4 Chris Quinn would come out fourth. Jeff Van Gundy of the LA Clippers received 7 percent. Based on these findings: NBA general managers seem highly confident about the Celtics as a team and seem confident they’ll repeat as champions while forecasting they will possess both the league’s best defense and most efficient offense. Tatum earned high respect among GMs: being named both small forward of the year for two straight years while tied for third in MVP voting with Gilgeous-Alexander and Doncic (three out of six votes in total). Finally, Holiday is clearly popular among GMs: they overestimate his ability in two positions (both defensive and offensively). GMs seem very enthusiastically anticipate seeing him goin’s to help return as champions! Holiday was named both perimeter defender and overall defender in his group; also garnering votes as most versatile player (tied for fifth), best leader, and overall leader (tied for fourth). If Celtics fans had any gripe about Holiday’s performance it would likely lie with coach section. Mazzulla scored in the top five on two separate coaching questions but failed to receive even one vote as “best head coach,” with Erik Spoelstra of Miami taking home 79%. Perhaps general managers believe Mazzulla benefited from Boston’s talent last season; nonetheless it remains puzzling that no matter their assessment the coach of one of NBA’s premier clubs doesn’t even factor into any discussion for best coach.
